Vitamin D

Fun fact: Vitamin D is actually not a vitamin, but a hormone.  Our body typically makes it (usually in the skin from exposure to the sun) and converts it to the most usable form by the liver and the kidneys.
Many Americans seem to have low blood levels of Vitamin D compared to the rest of the world, which many reasons are attributed.
What’s important that we understand that Vitamin D3, the animal & human form, is the preferred form of Vitamin D3.  We always recommend softgels, as Vitamin D found in capsules has to be dried first.
Dosages range from 400 IU to 5,000 IU.  It is important you consult with an expert before taking doses of 5,000 IU or more, as Vitamin D is fat soluble and can accumulate over time in the body - leading to harmful toxicity.
